December 1st our Board Members, volunteers, staff, and their guests enjoyed a delightful Christmas Party at Harbor Inn Restaurant. Thank you, Virginia Summerall, for the very special party favors and, Peggy Mitchell, for the gorgeous table decorations!
A group of students from Westminster High School volunteered a day of service at Making Ends Meet Bargain Center January 5th. It was our pleasure to work with these fine young people and they did a superior job for us. Latoya Hardman was our contact person for the group. Thank you!
The good citizens of our community responded in a huge way to the Time to Care “Clean House” promotion sponsored by WRDW – TV News 12. Our showroom is very, very full of donated items and we have lots to spare. Thank you, Mark Hodges, for being so generous and giving us great air time! Mark is Marketing/Promotions Manager for Channel 12. Mike Armstrong did an interview with Meredith Anderson on Midday on 12. Thank you, Mike and Meredith! Mike Armstrong and Mike Askew helped receive donations January 19th. Thanks!
Mrs. Mae Wong donated shelves, display cases, and many other items to our thrift store. Mercy Ministries helped transport the items to our store. Fran Oliver is Executive Director of Mercy Ministries. Thank you, Mrs. Wong and Mercy Ministries. Mike Armstrong, Rhonda Whiting, and William Donnelly assisted. The Junior League of Augusta is sponsoring a fundraiser – “Little Black Dress Initiative” – and the proceeds will be donated to Julie’s House. Read the details on the reverse side of this newsletter. JUNIOR LEAGUE OF AUGUSTA FUNDRAISER
The Junior League of Augusta, Georgia will kick off its 2nd Annual Little Black Dress Initiative February 6-10, 2017 to raise awareness around poverty surrounding women in crisis. Our league has found an ideal fit and partnership to collaborate and incorporate our focus. We will seek to raise awareness for Julie’s House, which provides resources for women in crisis, while raising funds to both share with Julie’s House and our very own Community Programming. At the end of the week, JLA will also make a donation of our dresses and outfits to fill a closet for the women residents. Women in crisis often come to Julie’s House seeking refuge with nothing. They leave their situations and most often come without any other clothing or possessions.
