Our Annual Independence Day Celebration and Sale exceeded all expectations!! Everything was donated for our food concession and we made $493.00. The list of donors and volunteers is very long so I will say a huge and heartfelt “thank you” to all!
Julie’s House participated in the annual “Time to Care Family Fair” Saturday, May 21st, at Augusta Common. This event is sponsored by WRDW – TV News 12. Our Board of Directors
“manned” our booth and Virginia Summerall, our Board Treasurer, provided games and prizes for the children. Thank you, WRDW – TV News 12, Board of Directors, and Virginia! I enjoy attending this event each year.
Bonnie Lawson and her husband, Don, and children, Molly and Jack, have been long-time supporters of our ministry. They appealed to their neighbors for donations of paper products, household cleaning products, and left-overs from yard sales. They have delivered many, many SUV loads to us. Thank you, Lawson family!
Saturday, August 6th, and the first Saturday of each month, all Augusta, Aiken, and surrounding area NPC owned Pizza Hut Restaurants will donate 20% of your purchase to Julie’s House when you present this Pizza Hut Fundraiser Flyer/Voucher. You can either print it from the link or you may stop by Making Ends Meet Bargain Center and pick them up. Please take your family out for pizza and help us raise funds for Julie’s House.
“When a woman decides to leave an abusive relationship, she often has nowhere to go. This is particularly true of women with few resources. Lack of affordable housing and long waiting lists for assisted housing mean that many women and their children are forced to choose between abuse at home and life on the streets. Approximately 63% of homeless women have experienced domestic violence in their adult lives.” National Network to End Domestic Violence
“Between 50-70% of men who abuse their partners also abuse their children.” U.S. Department of Justice
“A child’s exposure to his father abusing his mother is the strongest risk factor for transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next.” Report of the American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Violence and the Family. APA, 1996
AND THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE GOES ON AND ON - FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT!
Julie’s House offers shelter to homeless women and their children and approximately 50% of our clients are homeless due to domestic violence. I receive referrals on a regular basis from our local domestic violence shelter when they have no space or the client has reached her maximum days of shelter at their facility.
Pray and vote November 8th!
